They applied for a charter, which was issued on April 23, 1886, and became the 28th Shrine Temple so recognized in Shrinedom.

Shriners are known for their compassion for others and for being active participants in their communities. Shriners help make the world a better place. Our mission is simple and our stories are defined by our shared pursuit of bettering ourselves and the world around us.

The mission of Shriners is to: Men of good character. Provide attractive, quality programs and services for its members, their families and their friends in a spirit of fun,  and fellowship

Foster self-improvement through leadership, education, community involvement.
